Google Pixel 4a is starting to look like the Pixel 4 device that you really want, and probably one of the best phones of the year.
Google surprised everyone by releasing the Pixel 3a and 3a XL in 2019,
affordable versions of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL that brought some hardware
and software to premium devices, but introduced them at a more
attractive price tag.
It seems that Google will follow a similar strategy with Pixel 4a and 4a
XL in 2020, introducing some of the features of Pixel 4 and 4 XL in a
more affordable body.
It has been leaking since early 2020, so it looks like the Google Pixel
4a may be coming soon at some point - though perhaps it will come alone,
without its XL XL.
Google Pixel 4a Release Date and Price
Originally, we expected Google to see its next affordable devices at
Google IO 2020, but that event has now been canceled due to the covid-19
epidemic.
That event was expected to take place between May 12-14, and the company
can now continue the event, but make it an online gathering. What
exactly is going to happen is unclear. If there is an online event, we
can still see Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a XL for the first time.
Google introduced Pixel 3a and 3a XL at IO 2019 on 8 May that year, so
that it would make sense for the company to introduce these new handsets
after a full year.
We heard that the Google Pixel 4a may release on May 22,
unveiling on May 15, as it is exactly a week before. However, this
release date for Germany was leaked, and it is possible that it may vary
in different parts of the world.
The Pixel 3a was priced at $ 399 / £ 399 / AU $ 649 at launch, while the
Pixel 3a XL was priced at $ 479 / £ 469 / AU $ 799. In terms of how
much you will pay, the price of Google Pixel 4a may actually be less than the Pixel 3a price.
We say that because the Pixel 4 costs less than the Pixel 3 (when
directly comparing the prices of the release), and we can see that
pattern here. Having said that, current price rumors point to $ 399,
which is similar to the Pixel 3A, so prices may be similar in other
markets as well.
