Can Vodafone survive in India ?
As we are in the 21st century its called modern age. modern age is
totally depends upon technology. Technologies likes Internet,AI, Robots
etc..
For the purpose of Internet there are various types of telecom service
provider that provide internet and calling services to the users. For
example Airtel, Reliance Jio, Idea, Vodafone etc.
So there is a huge competitions between various telecom companies. In
that Jio and Airtel captures the whole market. But some companies like
Idea, BSNL, Vodafone have to survive. Vodafone have a big loss due to
this.

According in this case, Vodafone have a very citical situation in
India.Vodafone has clashed with other Indian authorites over taxes and
regulatory issues. In 2016 the entry of Relaince Jio added to Vodafone
problem by sparking a brutal price war.
The Chief Executive Nick Read said,"In India Vodafone formed a joint
venture with Idea Cellular in 2018 had been a very challenging situation
for a long time. But Vodafone Idea had 300 million customers.Financially
there been a heavy burden through supportive regulation, excessive
taxes and on top of that we got the negative supreme court decision".
Vodafone's India venture may collapes if the government does not stop
hitting operators with higher taxes and changes. The Supreme Court had
ordered Vodafone-Idea to pay $4 biilions of fees linked to past
frequency licenses last month.Vodafone-Idea already has $14 billions in
debts and UK based Vodafone has pledged not to put any more money into
the business. This means that Vodafone-Idea is unlikely to participate
in the next rounds of airwaves auctions.
According to CEO Read, India has been a very challenging market for a
long time. How ever his company has put forth a set of conditions for it
to stay committed to the country. Vodafone wants
- a two year moratorium on spectrum payments.
- lower licenses fees and taxes.
- waiving of interest and penalties imposed by the Supreme Court. It also seeks a level playing field with Reliance Jio.
But Mukesh Ambami wants the government to reject his rivals requests for
aid. Then CEO Read and Vodafone Chairman Mr.Klieserlee met government
officials in September and set out the relief proposals. They engaged
that Vodafone was the largest foreign direct investor in the country.
If Vodafone will not able to survive in this market then the country
also have to face a problem of unemployment. If Vodafone get closed that
more than 5 lakhs of employed peoples looses their jobs. and meanwhile
Vodafone also contribute towards the development also.
