The instant messaging app WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger may soon feature a Dark Mode feature that will help save the battery of the device as well as relax the eyes.  But, how to use dark mode when browsing on computer / laptop.  Let us know how to use this feature on phones and computers / laptops.


Before using Dark Mode, we know what it is and how it can prove to be beneficial.  In November last year, Google itself admitted that keeping the smartphone on dark mode results in battery saving.  A report states, "The biggest factor in battery consumption is the brightness of the screen, and also the color of the screen."  Dark mode overall changes the color of the operating system (OS) or application to black.

The report showed how dark mode consumes 43 per cent less battery than 'normal mode' at full brightness level, while too much white is traditionally being used.  Technology giant Google also considered it a mistake to encourage app developers to use white color for their applications, including Google's own apps.

How to use dark mode in computer / laptop
 You can use the canary version of Google Chrome to use dark mode while browsing on a computer / laptop, but it is not a stable version right now.  This version of Chrome is yet to complete many other remaining tests.  Still, you can use dark mode with the help of extensions on Google Chrome.  To include it in your browser, type https://chrome.google.com/webstore in the URL box.  After this, the search option will appear on the left side, type the extension name dark mode.  On opening the extension, click on the option 'Add to Chrome' on the right.  Some times after doing this, your browser will include its icon.  After this you can use it easily.

Dark mode can be found from the app on Android
 Users using Google's Android operating system can go to Google Playstore and download the Dark Mode app.  Default dark theme for substratum is on Google Playstore, with the help of which the user can save the eyes as well as the phone battery.  This app turns the phone screen completely black and turns the text white, turning some text to red and yellow if needed.

Dark mode will expand in Android Q
 So far, Android P ie Android Pie has not reached with people and now leak reports of Android Q have started surfacing.  A report related to Android Q has been revealed in which it is revealed that Android Q has been created in January and there are security patches for February.  Users will get dark mode feature in Android Q.  Along with this, users can dismount notifications by sliding right to right in the new update, while swiping left gives you the option to snooze.
