The iPad Pro 2020 |
Here is the TeckReady Style review of the 2020 iPad Pro:
1. The Display
If you have been following TeckReady you would know that I always start with the Display. This is because most of the time our concentration and eyes will be on the display.
The iPad Pro bigger version has a 12.9" Liquid Retina display with IPS LCD technology. It has a super smooth 120 Hz refresh rate with a 240 Hz touch response rate. You can simply expect phenomenal performances from it. It has a resolution of 2732-by-2048 pixels. The display has a max brightness of 600 nits.
Personally, I do not have any complaints with the display, it has uniformly proportional slim bezels, that hosts the Face ID scanner and the selfie camera. I would be happier if it had an IN-Display fingerprint scanner.
2. The Camera
I really do not know why you would want the best cameras in a tablet but why not? But obviously, you do not want to be that person in the back who sticks out the huge iPad to take a picture.
The camera cut out in the back hosts a 10 MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and you can expect great quality ultrawide shots because hey, this is Apple we are talking about. The primary lens is a 12 MP camera with an aperture of f/1.8. You can take iPhone grade pictures from this lens and be left impressed. One thing to be noted you still cannot take portrait pictures with the rear camera but only with the selfie camera which is a drawback but I am sure in the future we can have this feature.
Also if you notice there is a third circle which is opaque. This is something Apple calls LIDAR which stands for Light Detection and Ranging. This is basically a sensor that will improve your A.I game by millions. Things like the measure app will have better readings but I suggest not using this app for serious purposes. However, this depth sensor is not used for what people use depth sensors for which is Portrait mode. This is sad because we could have gotten excellent DSLR-like portrait pictures.
The selfie camera is of 7MP with an aperture of f/2.2. This camera is quite good for facetime and it also has portrait mode.
3. The Specs

The Box |
The 12.9" iPad Pro has 6GB of RAM. It uses the latest A12Z chip and paired with the fast and smooth refresh rate of the display you can achieve flying speeds. It comes with iPad OS 13.4 which is basically iOS for an iPad with some improvements that will give you a desktop-like feeling. It has an internal storage of up to 1TB which is the first time for the iPad. The battery is of 9720 mAH with 18W fast charging. The good thing about this is that it charges via USB Type-C.
4. The Accessories:
a) Floating Keyboard

The Floating Keyboard |
Apple launched a floating keyboard with the iPad Pro line up this year in 2020. Yes, you heard it right a floating keyboard. It is basically using magnets on the back of the iPad to give it a titled stand which makes the iPad Pro floated from the ground. With this, you will be one step closer to having a computer but on an iPad. This is what Apple calls your new computer is not a computer.
b) Magic Trackpad
iPad OS 13.4 grants users to pair the Magic Trackpad with the iPad Pro. This means you now have a mouse for your iPad. Instead of a pointer, the iPad uses a translucent circle as of replication of our fingers and when it goes on top of an app or a menu setting. But, it does not work all the time so some apps need to get an update. Also, it uses gestures, which if you have not used the Mac before you would not know but there are a few. If you want to learn them here is the link.
Conclusion
This is an iPad for the generations. You can expect to replace your computer. With minor updates and tweaks, this iPad can be the next beast. The iPad Pro starts at $999 and can go up to $1449If you do not have an Ipad right now you can definitely buy this one. However, if you do have one you might want t wait a few more years to check out if Apple offers much more convincing specs.
