DJI Mavic 2 Pro Review

On August 28, 2018, DJI launched it's one o the best drones ever the Mavic 2 Pro. Here is the first-ever done review from TeckReady, I hope you all enjoy it!
DJI Mavic 2 Pro

The DJI Mavic 2  Pro is a one of a kind drone and it is one of those drones you see Youtubers, rock climbers or skiers use to take spectacular shots. Here are some of the key features of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and my opinion on it.

1. The Camera

It has a 1” CMOS sensor with amazing effective Pixels of 20 million. The best part about the camera is that it is made by renowned camera company Hasselblad and the drone has the biggest sensor than any other drone out there. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro  can record 4K @60 fps, 2.7k@ up to 60 fps 1080p @ up to 120 fps. The camera takes great still images of 20 MP whereas it's other competitions do not have that capability. The camera sensor performs very well in low light because of that 1" sensor. However, to be noted that while taking videos it is recommended to use a low aperture or else the distortion in your video output is quite visible.

2. Portability

Although the body of the DJI Mavic 2  Pro might be quite thick this drone's wings can be closed in a smaller form factor and if you are a photography person carrying a bag it can easily go in with your camera gear also to mention it does come with a bag of its own. And for a drone, it is very lightweight with a mass of only 907 grams.

3. Sensing System

Mavic 2  Proin flight

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro has first of its line Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing. This means it has obstacle sensing from the front, back, top, bottom, and sides. Keep in mind the side obstacle sensors are only functioning during Intelligent Flight mode. Although the obstacle sensing from the back and front are excellent. Another incredible thing DJI has done is Active Tracking, you just tap on the screen and it will find you automatically. Quite cool. However, sometimes it does hit small branches that the obstacle sensor might not read as well. Many people think that the drone has 360 degrees obstacle sense but it does not. It only uses the side obstacle sensors in the DJI pre-programmed flight mode. Another downside is that in winter when the sun is down during late afternoon the active tracking has some issues tracking you because of the way the Sun's light is reflecting, I think DJI should fix it.

4. The controller

Once again the controller is very compact and it gives a very good rugged feeling. Also, it has a screen on it so you do not need your phone to pilot it. The screen shows flight speed and all the data of the drone in its current situation like battery life or how far it is. You can still connect your phone to the remote and incredible feature it contains is that it can simultaneously charge your phone too, how impressive!

5. Pricing

This is where some people lose their hopes because this magnificent drone can cost you about $1800.
But there are a lot of people for whom this drone will be very essential and they will still buy it regardless of cost. DJI is quite similar to Apple if you want the best you have to pay for the best. Although there are other cheaper options form drones made by DJI.

6. Flight Time

When you are flying a done you would want to fly it forever. DJI claims their drone can fly up to 30 minutes. But flight time people usually get is around 25-27 minutes.

Conclusion

If you want a drone that can take amazing video footage and great still images than you should buy the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. IF you want amazing remote control experience with decent active tracking and obstacle sensing than you should buy this drone. However, if you want to depend solely on autopilot and obstacle sensing than you should look for other options. With everything said we all should keep in mind that this drone costs about $ 1800 and our choice should be based upon the price.
