How can we get GST for our business?
I am back with a very important topic. Here I will tell how to register
for GST for a new business. If someone wants to start a new business in
India then GST registration is the most important thing for him whether
it is online or offline business. Because according to current laws of
Indian Government, it is mandatory to register GST for your business.
Registering for GST is not a complex process. It is very easy to
register for GST.
Required Documents for GST Registration -
1. PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card -
2. An Address Proof -
3. An Identity Proof -
4. A Bank account -
5. Passport size photograph -
6. Land Deed (or deed for your office/shop) -
7. Registration Fee -
Now I want to discuss about the process to register for GST. You can go with any of the following methods -
1. GST Consultant -
2. Online Consultancy -
3. By yourself (online method) -
Required Documents for GST Registration -
1. PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card -
This is the most important document for your GST registration. Your PAN
number will be linked to your GST. If you do not have a PAN card then
you can visit your nearest PAN office and get a PAN card easily. You
just need an identity proof, age proof, address proof, photos and a
small fee for a new PAN card. Total time for processing of a PAN card
may take upto 15 to 20 days. PAN authority will send your card to your
home address through India Post of Courier Service. Before that, you
will get a confirmation SMS and an update which will tell you that the
your card has dispatched. PAN card is mandatory for GST. Without it, you
can not apply for GST.
2. An Address Proof -
For GST registration, you will require an address proof like Voter ID
Card, Aadhar Card, Passport, Bank Passbook etc. You can submit any one
of these documents as your address proof. But, before submitting you
must check that document for any kind of spelling mistakes or wrong
information. Do not submit any document with any wrong information or
spelling mistake. This can create problems for you in the future time.
3. An Identity Proof -
An identity proof is also required for your GST registration. You can
submit any document like Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License,
Passport etc. You can use any one one of these documents as your
Identity proof. ID proof is mandatory for any kind registration under
Government organisations.
4. A Bank account -
This is also very important for your new GST registration. You will need
to submit your bank account which will be associated to your GST
account. Do not get afraid of this. This is secure. No money will be
deducted from your account. But you must have an account from a
nationalised bank like SBI, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, HDFC
Bank etc. If you do not have a account in any nationalised bank then
you have to create one before applying for GST. This is mandatory for
GST registration.
5. Passport size photograph -
For a new GST registration, you will need a passport sized photograph of
yourself. As you are registering it in your own name then you must
submit a photograph of yourself. This will be uploaded in the GST
portal. This will be saved in the portal of tax authorities which can be
used by the them for future reference.
6. Land Deed (or deed for your office/shop) -
Deed is required for GST registration. This is a required document
because GST authority wants to know about your rented building or room,
all the details about the room, about its owner, rent amount etc. The
deed must be verified by magistrate or notary public. You can prepare a
land deed with the help of an advocate and it will take only 1/2 day(s).
7. Registration Fee -
Registration fees is also mandatory for GST Registration. This fee may
vary from business to business. I mean, this fee may higher or lower
according to your type of business. This fee may include the charges of
the tax consultant. This is difficult to give any idea about the fee.
But, in my according, this fee may around Rs. 2000/-.
Now I want to discuss about the process to register for GST. You can go with any of the following methods -
1. GST Consultant -
You can contact a GST consultant for your fresh registration of GST.
They will guide you in the proper way. This is the best process to get
registered under GST. You can search for a local GST consultant and
visit their office. Then you submit all the documents and the fee. They
will charge a fee for processing. After that they will process your
application and finally you will get your GSTIN through SMS. The whole
process will take up to 2/3 days. After all the verification, GST
authority will send a certificate to your registered e-mail address. You
can take a print out of that certificate and keep it. Or you can
collect the certificate from your consultant also.
2. Online Consultancy -
Many online GST consultancy services are available. You can go with any
one of them. Before that, you need to verify their website. Some of the
websites are www.cleartax.in, www.legaldocs.co.in, www.e-startupindia.com
etc. I am not suggesting any one instead of that you verify that
website yourself and go with that. Under this process, you need to
submit all your business and personal information and upload the
documents in the website. Then you need the make the payment through
online. After everything, they will verify the documents and submit
that. you will get your GSTIN within 2/3 days. You do not need to go to
any office under online method.
3. By yourself (online method) -
You can do the registration by yourself also. You should do this through the GST main website. You can go to the link from http://bit.ly/3150rOM.
You should submit all the details, upload the documents and pay the fee
through online. After that they will verify everything and finally you
will get your GSTIN. This method is not so though. but I will suggest
you to go to your local GST consultant and register for GST. Because
this process is very safe and secure.
